Almost Famous

Guiding Question: What does it mean to be famous? How has technology influenced fame? And community? Student Artist Mission: To research, process, develop, refine and create a relief ceramic tile inspired by You Tube. Process: document in your IWB 1. Brainstorm and view “almost famous” You Tube videos. 2. Discuss opinions, social aspects and social responsibilities of You Tube. 3. Collect images of your You Tube theme and add them to your sketchbook. 4. Develop drawn images inspired by your theme. 5. Create a detailed plan of your 6”x6” video inspired relief ceramic tile. Think about ADDITIVE and SUBTRACTIVE techniques. Reflection: write in your IWB · What do you want to communicate about You Tube to your viewers through this piece? How will you accomplish this? · What emotion would you like to provoke? How will you achieve this?

I need help on developing my theme. What I am thinking about doing is like something with parodies and I am still in the process of looking for one.
Tell me what you think of parodies and if you have any ideas?

Min, Most of the videos I listed on the blog have parodies that have been created. It is very You Tube. Go with it! Reflect on what it is you want to say about parodies though. What about them interests you?

IB buds...please help Min. There is no rule that I am the only one that can give support. You are all here to support and learn from each other.

There are lots of different types of parodies. There are those that are like MadTV, there are homemade parodies of what is seen on TV, and there are parodies of other youtube videos.

A macbook air ad parody. Ironically made on a macbook air.

For a more nerdy approach, here's a parody of 'I will survive'.

parody of 'Leave Britney Alone' parody for 'Leave Little Mermaid on Broadway Alone'

Some different ideas to toss around.

I was wondering if I could do 'Storytelling' as my YouTube theme. Examples include the domino SnowWhite, YouTube Mad libs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rajiaHpIoKM), blogs etc.

Could that work?

Of course! Go with it!

I'm still having some difficulty finding new ways people tell classic stories. So far I've found a really cute song fo the three little pigs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jljMFGZttPg) and a stop frame animation of Goldie Locks and the 3 Bears (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0ciBH-ytRs)

There was another neat feature video today featuring a story called 'Lady Ice' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gTkbNfLrqQ

It's just really hard for me to find videos, and once I do, I'm still in some debate on how I can use this information to create my ceramic tile. Any ideas?

find videos on youtube about a particular subject is hard because most of the videos online are random but if you carefully type certain words then you might find what you are looking for. Some of the stories use real humans to tell the tale of classic stories and if you can get screenshots of them then it would be great. If its cartoon or freeze frame then you can try to imitate what it is that is in the video

yeah I also saw part of the lady ice thing, that was kinda interesting.
