I "heart" Polish Students!!
Thanks to Allison's great idea and Mirza's mad skills of organizing our peeps we will celebrate Valentines Day Tuesday, February 17th during art. I have boxes for everyone to decorate and we will give Valentines old school style aka grade school. Think about your favorite Valentines Day memory to share with the group. Ask your new Polish friends if they celebrate Valentines Day. From what I can find Polish celebrate"Women's Day" March 8th rather than Valentines Day. Oddly though it seems as if "Women's Day" was started in New York City when women factory workers went on strike to protest poor working conditions.
Being that I was so excited about our party I rushed out tonight and bought the boxes and fun Valentine goodies for our party. On the way home I realized it would have been smart to wait until Sunday or Monday night when all the Valentine's Day things are ON SALE!!! Darn it! SOOOOOO My advice to you is WAIT til after Valentine's Day to get your goodies and you can save some money.
Gah! So I'm still confused! How many Valentines should we plan to have? (Are any teachers besides Green being involved in this?) Though I guess it doesn't really matter since Valentine's come in a box of a nice number, is 30 enough?
DUDE! Why aren't you people doing your homework?!?!? JK :) I love when we get 4 comments in two minutes!
OK... There will be 27 students. We can invite the other IB teachers if you would like. We would need at least 15 minutes to decorate our boxes with the Polish students though. Teachers would have to go without boxes but I think they could handle that. Mrs. L-H is letting all IB students come to the party 8th period. My 6th period will go to her 6th period that day instead of coming to me, just like we do for crit days. I personally did not get valentines for everyone. I did get the boxes and some fun fun treats to hand out! So what do you think...should we invite all IB teachers too?
S- I love the vintage ones too! I like to think about the artists that painted them and how their art was then mass produced and given to so many. Art is every where! Have you every looked into working at Hallmark? I think they are in KC. I also totally love the corny messages on the vintage cards. Are you kidding me "FORK over your heart"? I LOVE IT!!!
Oh. I think HL Math kids have a test 6th hour on Tuesday. It was supposed to be on Friday the 13th (creepy!) but got pushed back because of our art trip. What should we do?

Also, do our 6th/8th hour teachers know? Are they included in the party? Sorry for so many questions...
I love the vintage illustrations on this post!

Does the Polish teacher count?
Yes if we invite all the teachers.
